We'll be using clay and drawings to explore facial features expression
and hand gestures.
Second session - Relief carving limestone or marble I'll be demonstrating
to the students the process of relief carving, in marble or lime stone,
Third session - continuing the relief-carving workshop.

"All you need to know about Plaster and Its application to Sculpture"
Plaster is the transition from clay to stone or bronze and more, or plaster
can
be the starting point. Learn the properties and the possibility of plaster.
Learn
to control the mix, cast ,slice, dice and splice. I will be demonstrating
a waste
mold on a clay sculpture , parting it by the use of a thread pulled through
the
wet plaster (instead of shims) to create a seam. You will achieve an almost
invisible seam.
Extra workshop - Revitalizing interest in how to develop flat surfaes
and
contours with steel chisels and a fulcrum.

Hand carving:.Keep it simple, sculptors!
Approach your stone sculpture with just basic tools. Connect to the stone
directly with hammer and chisel.
Develop a deeper rapport with your stone through quiet and patient
exploration. Effective hand carving is it's own reward, but it will also
bring a healthier approach to your use of power tools.

Finishing, Polishing, Repairing & How to Carve Delicate Forms
JoAnne's master techniques will give you the right information for
the
best presentations of your sculpture. Finishing by hand or quiet close
quarter drill, she will show you how to get the most from sanding.
JoAnne will show how to make sanding tools for those impossible
places, and a bunch of other secrets. Learn about the right glue for
the right job or condition. Her focus will also include showing you
how to repair breaks, laminate stone together, or stone to other
materials. JoAnne will also share her fine skills in carving delicate
forms like leaves and flowers.

Begining Copper Repousse &
Applications in Sculpture
An introduction to the technique of Repousse (pronounced Reh-poo-say)
a metal working technique that raises/pushes a design into metal primarily
from the back with various punches and hammer. The metal of choice
during the workshops will be thin sheet copper. During each two hour
workshop, Debra will get you started on a simple project. She will also
be available between workshops to help complete your project or for
more one on one instruction for more techniques or more advanced
design concepts. Though all necessary tools will be provided, a basic
set of tools and an instructional book will also be available for purchase.
Class size will be up to four people at a time. There will be a small
material
fee of $4.00 for this workshop.
